Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list all surplus National Health Service property sold since 1979 in excess of £50,000, the price obtained and the date of sales by region and district.

I refer the hon. Member to the answers given to the hon. Member for Greenock and Port Glasgow (Dr. Godman) on 5 and 11 June 1986 (Vol. 98, at column603 and Vol. 99, at column 204, respectively).

Receipts from sales in 1979–80 and 1980–81 amounted to £55,798 and £529,627 respectively.

Receipts for 1986–87 to date amount to £3,053,052.

Information about the selling price in individual cases is subject to the normal confidentiality between purchaser and seller in land transactions in Scotland.
