Mr. Pike

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list any proposals for additional motorway service areas currently under consideration for the existing motorway network in England, not including the M25.

Motorway service areas currently planned for the existing motorway network, excluding the M25, are as follows:

  1. (a) M4: Reading area (precise site not yet chosen).
  2. (b) M11: Birchanger, near Stansted.
  3. (c) M20: i. West Kingsdown near Brands Hatch;
    • ii. Westhanger, at junction 11.
  4. (d) M27: Meon, near Fareham.
  5. (e) M40: Stokenchurch, near High Wycombe.
  6. (f) M42: i. Northern section in the Tamworth/north Warwickshire area;
    • ii. South-eastern section.
  7. (g) M54: Telford.
  8. (h) M56: Hapsford.
