§ Mr. Keyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he proposes to take to abolish corporal punishment in institutions which fall within the responsibility of his Department and local social service departments, in the light of the provisions relating to corporal punishment in the Education (No. 2) Act 1986.
§ Mrs. CurrieRegulations governing the conduct of local authority community homes, and of voluntary children's homes which are registered with the Secretary of State for Social Services, are currently being revised. The revised regulations will incorporate a provision prohibiting the use of corporal punishment in these establishments.
