HC Deb 09 February 1987 vol 110 c112W
Dr. David Clark

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has to ensure funding for the Institute for Terrestrial Ecology's early diagnosis project on acid rain and tree damage in the light of the Ecology Commission's decision to offer only 25 per cent. funding.

Mr. Waldegrave

My officials, along with those from the Natural Environment Research Council, are investigating the decision by the Commission of the European Communities on funding for the second phase of the early diagnosis of forest decline project under the fourth environment action research programme. When the implications of the decision have been fully analysed, the Secretary of State for Education and Science and I will consider what further action may he necessary.
