Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, if he will give a breakdown of the different grounds for which abortions were performed in England and Wales in each of the last five years for which figures are available on: (a) resident and (b) non-resident women, stating how many of those abortions on such women were performed at nought to 19 weeks gestation, 20 weeks, 21 weeks, 22 weeks, 23 weeks, 24 weeks, 25 weeks, 26 weeks, 27 weeks and 28 weeks or more, stating in each case: (i) the age of the mother, (ii) the marital status of the mother, (iii) the category or premises, (iv) the number of children previously liveborn to the mother, (v) the abortion technique used and (vi) whether the abortion was a National Health Service abortion carried out in a non-National Health Service centre under agency arrangements.
