Mr. John Mark Taylorasked the Attorney-General what representations he has received concerning delays at Her Majesty's Land Registry at Gloucester; and if he will make a statement.
The Solicitor-GeneralIn the course of the last 12 months, the Lord Chancellor has received four complaints from Members of Parliament on behalf of constituents 829W relating to delays at the Gloucester district land registry. These delays result from substantial increases both in the number of pre-contract and pre-completion searches and the number of substantive applications for registrations. Staff have been diverted from final registration work to provide prompt replies on pre-completion matters and the new land registry office opened last month at Coventry will assist the Gloucester office in all areas of its work.
