HC Deb 05 February 1987 vol 109 c779W
33. Mr. Leigh

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the level of funding to police authorities in the east midlands.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

It is for police authorities in the east midlands, as in the rest of England and Wales, to determine the resources to he made available to their forces. Fifty-one per cent. of what each police authority spends in a particular year for police purposes is met by the Home Office through police grant. The remaining 49 per cent. is met by the police authority from its own resources, which consist of block grant from the Department of the Environment and rates.
