§ Dr. Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the applications he has received for funding of posts under section 11 of the Local Government Act 1966 since he issued draft revised administrative guidelines for section 11 grants on 26 March 1986; and if he will state against each application, his reasons for not granting section 11 funding.
§ Mr. Waddington[pursuant to his reply, 26 January 1987, c. 27]: Information on fresh applications for new posts, or proportions of new posts, received since 26 March 1986 is set out in the following table. In a small number of other cases applications not made on the proper form have been returned to the local authority. Applications received after 26 March 1986 but before the new guidelines came into force on 1 October 1986 were considered under the guidelines set out in Home Office Circular No. 97/1982. During the same period we also considered plans from a number of local education authorities for the reorganisation of sometimes substantial numbers of teaching posts found to be ineligible for grant during a recent general administrative review of posts
