HC Deb 05 February 1987 vol 109 c790W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to the answer of 12 January, Official Report, c. 71–72, if he will take the necessary steps to obtain and publish in the Official Report details of the number of motorists stopped and positively breathalysed for drunken driving in the Metropolitan police area between Christmas and new year's day; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The Commisioner of the Police of the Metropolis tells me that between 8 December 1986 and 4 January 1987 inclusive there were 1,802 positive roadside screening tests in the Metropolitan police force area. Information on the total number of tests carried out has not been collated and could presently be obtained only at disproportionate cost. But it will be included in the Home Office bulletin "Statistics on Breath Tests—England and Wales" to be published in the middle of this year.
