§ 53. Mr. Geraint Howellsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give the funds allocated to the water authorities and environmental protection boards for each of the last five years and the relevant estimate for each of the next five years.
§ Mr. John PattenWater authorities are given annual allocations of external finance in line with the controls which the Government exercise over all nationalised industries and consistent with industry totals published in annual public expenditure White Papers. External finance limits (EFLs) set for the five years to 1986–87 are set out in the table. EFLs for 1987–88 are also given. With the exception of Welsh water authority the 1987–88 figures exclude allocations for flood defence works which have yet to be notified to authorities. EFLs for later years will normally be notified only after public expenditure totals have been finalised.
