asked the Secretary of State for Transport when the Windsor link to the Manchester railway system will be completed; and what is the current estimated cost of the work.

I understand that work on the Windsor link scheme which I approved in April 1985 is expected to be completed by May 1988. The estimated cost of the project is £12.5 million.
