HC Deb 04 February 1987 vol 109 cc707-8W
Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what information he has about the prevalence of (a) cerebral palsy and (b) other disabilities for children born in each of the last five years.

Mr. John MacKay

At present comprehensive information on the prevalence of disability is not available centrally. Some information about the prevalence of certain disabilities is available from the handicapped children's register maintained by the information services division of the Common Services Agency, from which the information set out in the table has been extracted. Methods of improving the collection of data of this nature are currently being investigated.
