§ Mr. Ernie Rossasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the current membership of each health board; how he determines each of the categories from which membership is drawn; and, if for each health board, he will indicate the category into which each member falls.
§ Mr. John MacKaySchedule 1 to the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978 sets out the groups which the Secretary of State must consult before making appointments. In making his decisions my right hon. and learned Friend has regard to the guidelines in the paper "The National Health Service and the Community in Scotland" published in 1974. This suggests the categories of nominating bodies from which each board's membership might be drawn. The lists indicate the category of nominating body which relates to each member. I am arranging for a list of the current membership of each health board to be placed in the Library of the House and published in theOfficial Report.
