British Aerospace's application for launch-aid for its participation in the Airbus A330/A340 programme was submitted, and is being considered, on the basis that it would be manufacturing the high-technology wings for these aircraft. Airbus Industrie and McDonnell Douglas suspended last September their discussions on possible collaboration on the MD I 1 and the A330/A340, and have not since resumed them.
