Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will list, by region, the amount granted in regional assistance as regional development grants in each financial year since 1976–77 at current and outturn prices.

The forms of assistance included are the following schemes: Wool Textiles (Parts 1 & 2), Ferrous Foundries, Machine Tools, Clothing, Paper and Board, Non-ferrous Foundary, Instrumentation, Drop Forging, Printing Machinery, Textile Machinery, Poultrymeat Processing, Footwear, Accelerated Project, Selective Investment, Support for Major Projects, Redment Slaughterhouse, Electronic Components, Microelectronics Industry Support 1, Coal Firing, Fibre Optics and Opto-electronics, Private Sector Steel, Small Engineering Firms Investment (1 & 2), Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Computer Aided Design and Test Equipment, Innovation Linked Investment, Quality Assurance, and Support for the Microelectronics Industry.
