§ Mr. Abseasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will place in the Library both the letter he has received from the European Economic Community Commissioner for the Environment relating to ReChem International, and his reply.
§ Mr. WaldegraveI have seen reports that the Commission intends to open infraction proceedings relating to ReChem International, under article 169 of the EC treaty. I have not seen any formal communication from the Commission on this subject. The Commission and the United Kingdom regard correspondence on infraction proceedings as confidential between them. It would not therefore be appropriate to place any such letter in the Library of the House.
