asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will seek to meet with the chairman of British Rail to discuss the rail link to Manchester airport.

Mr. Moore

There is no need for me to do so since British Rail has already put forward proposals for its share of the funding. I should be happy to meet representatives of Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority and Manchester Airport plc, together with British Rail, as soon as they have presented me with details of their proposals.
