asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what discussions he has had regarding alterations in the system of handling Northern Ireland legislation; and if he will make a statement.

Under direct rule special procedures for handling Northern Ireland legislation apply. I am always ready to consider suggestions for improvements to these place pupil and (d) the percentage of the local education authority budget represented by expenditure on the assisted places scheme.

procedures. In particular, my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister indicated on 25 February 1986 that she was prepared to discuss these matters with leaders of the Unionist parties. They have not so far taken up that offer.
