§ Mr. MellorIn the 12 months ending March 1979 police in England and Wales recorded 88,000 offences of violence against the person, compared with 125,000 in the 12 months ending September 1986. Statistics of recorded notifiable offences are published each quarter in a Home Office statistical bulletin, issue 39/86 being the nost recent.
