HC Deb 02 February 1987 vol 109 c500W
Mr. Greenway

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on the effect on the telephone service of the strike by British Telecom engineers.

Mr. Butcher

British Telecom's network is designed to be resilient. There has been little disruption of significance to services overall so far. The company is taking all the steps it can to maintain services. Services provided over the Mercury network are not directly affected.
