HC Deb 18 December 1987 vol 124 cc839-40W
Mr. Chris Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what arrangements are made for Metropolitan police officers of the rank of deputy assistant commissioner and above to remain in contact with Scotland Yard at weekends.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that area deputy assistant commissioners and their deputies are provided with radio pagers. Their private address and telephone numbers are retained in the central command complex and contingency arrangements exist for urgent contact to be made. Similar arrangements exist for deputy assistant commissioners and more senior officers in other operational posts.
