§ Mr. William RossTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish in the Official Report a table to show for Northern Ireland as a whole the level of community charge which would raise sums equal to that raised by rates in each of the last five years.
§ Mr. Stanley[holding answer 17 December 1987]: The Green Paper "Paying for Local Government" proposals do not apply to Northern Ireland. We have decided to monitor the development of the proposals in England and Wales before deciding whether or to what extent they should he applied in Northern Ireland. The monitoring exercise has not involved the calculation of the equivalent community charges and thus the figures requested are not available and could be compiled only at disproportionate cost.
