HC Deb 18 December 1987 vol 124 cc923-4W
Mr. Ingram

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give details of the progress to date on each of the recommendations relevant to his Department contained within the report of the working group on services for people with epilepsy.

Mr. Scott

In July 1986 this Department and the Department of Education and Science issued a joint circular to draw the report to the attention of health, social services and education authorities. It was our intention that the report would stimulate discussion on the scope for improvement and be of assistance to both professional staff involved in the treatment and care of people with epilepsy and to managers and planners in the organisation of local services. It is for individual health and local authorities to consider the recommendations and decide the scope for adopting them in the light of existing services, availability of resources and local priorities.
