HC Deb 18 December 1987 vol 124 c906W
Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will issue guidance on the criteria health boards should use in making decisions on allocating resources to stockpile medical supplies in peacetime for possible use in an emergency; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Currie

A working group of officials within the Department is considering stockpile requirements for medical supplies for possible use in emergencies. The cost of providing stores of essential items is likely to be high and so may have to be built up over a period of time. Guidance will be issued following completion of the study.
