§ Mr. MellorOur policy towards the Western European Union is to make it an effective forum for Foreign and Defence Ministers of member countries to discuss security and defence issues of mutual concern. An effective Western European Union will contribute to strengthening the European pillar of the Alliance. The platform on European security interests agreed at the recent Hague ministerial meeting will guide Western European Union's development for the foreseeable future.
