§ Mr. MaudeThe Consumer Protection (Cancellation of Contracts concluded away from Business Premises) Regulations 1987 were laid before Parliament today. They provide for a seven-day cooling-off period during which consumers have the right to cancel a contract for goods or services entered into during an unsolicited visit by a trader to their home or place of work. The regulations apply, with some exceptions, to cash and credit contracts worth more than £35. They will come into force on 1 July 1988.
