§ Mr. LeeThe most recent source of information on the availability of persons for work is the labour force survey (LFS) which estimated that in spring 1986 4,283,000 people in Great Britain were out of employment and available for work, and of these only some 2,654,000 had looked for work in the week prior to interview.
