§ Mr. MoynihanI have recently received information from the water authorities about their capital investment460W programmes for schemes related to the improvement of coastal bathing water quality. The returns are being analysed and will provide the basis of discussions with the authorities concerned.
§ Mr. Win GriffithsTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to be in a position to list the capital investment programme of each water authority in England and Wales to meet the requirements of the European Economic Community directive on the quality of drinking water, as recently interpreted.
§ Mr. MoynihanIt is difficult to distinguish expenditure required to comply with the directive from the substantial on-going programme of asset renewal. However, we will be reviewing the investment programmes of water authorities in the light of my right hon. Friend's statement of 2 December.
