HC Deb 15 December 1987 vol 124 c423W
Sir Fergus Montgomery

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what information his Department has on the price of four-star petrol at the pump on average(a) in the conurbations and (b) in the small towns and rural areas as at 11 November; what representations he has received from the Petrol Retailers Association on the level of competition in the conurbations and the incidence of petrol retail sites there owned by major oil companies; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Maude

Information on prices in the form requested is not collected by the Department. I understand, however, that certain price information is available in published material such as thePetroleum Times.

I have received no recent representations directly from the Petrol Retailers Association, although I understand that the association has made representations to the Director General of Fair Trading. I have received a number of representations from hon. Members and from retailers expressing support for the Petrol Retailers Association's views.
