§ Ms. WalleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the implications for his policy on cancer screening within the National Health Service of the Sharp intercollegiate report on cervical cytology screening facilities, a copy of which has been sent to him.
§ Mrs. CurrieWe shall shortly be issuing to health authorities consolidated and revised guidance on cervical cancer screening. We have agreed with the president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists that copies of the inter-collegiate report on cervical cytology screening, which has been placed in the Library, should be enclosed with that circular. The Department will pay for the necessary copies and distribution. Together these documents will give health authorities sound advice on ways of improving their screening programmes in order to reduce mortality from cervical cancer.
