§ Mr. John PattenOn the night of 6/7 December—the most recent date for which information is available—51 remand prisoners awaiting state of health or psychiatric reports were held in police cells in England and Wales. All were awaiting transfer to Brixton prison. Thirty-five were held in London and 16 elsewhere. Information on prisoners requiring psychiatric treatment is not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
