HC Deb 14 December 1987 vol 124 cc417-8W
Mr. Rogers

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will introduce legislation to entitle civilians participating in military exercises to claim compensation in the event of injury; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ian Stewart

Any civilian who suffers injury, or any loss or damange, as a result of military activities is entitled to claim compensation from my Department under the terms of the Crown Proceedings Act 1947. All such claims, including from those taking part in military exercises, are dealt with on their merits and on the basis of any legal liability on the part of my Department.
