HC Deb 14 December 1987 vol 124 c362W
Mr. Cryer

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the improvements carried out in the Members' Tea Room to the dispensing and display counter and ventilation system; who were the contractors; whether the tender price was adhered to; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Chope

The new servery was designed to improve the service to right hon. and hon. Members and the working conditions for staff of the Refreshment Department. A comprehensive range of equipment has been installed for the storage, preparation, display and dispensing of food and drink, and for storing and dispensing crockery.

The purpose of the new supply and extract ventilation system is to overcome long-standing complaints about stagnant air and high room temperatures.

The main contractor for the refurbishment scheme was Messrs. Haymills (Contractors) Ltd. The work was carried out in accordance with the terms of its tender.
