Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) if he will make a statement on the work of the directorate of battle doctrine;

(2) how many personnel are currently on the staff of the directorate of battle doctrine;

(3) how many staff from the directorate of battle doctrine are currently on secondment or attachment to the air land forces application agency of headquarters United States Army Training and doctrine command/ headquarters, United States Air Force tactical air command.

The work of the former directorate of battle doctrine is now carried out by the directorate of doctrine (Army). The directorate of doctrine (Army) currently consists of 16 personnel, including clerical support. Its work encompasses the formulation of broad tactical concepts for the Army in the time frame 10 to 25 years ahead. It does not have any staff attached or seconded to the air land forces application agency of headquarters United States Army training and doctrine command or to Headquarters United States Air Force tactical air command.
