To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he has any plans to introduce legislation to require local authorities to provide cyclists with recognised parking places outside public buildings.

No. Local authorities already have adequate powers to provide parking facilities for cyclists. We publish advice on this topic in local transport note 1/78 — copies of which have been placed in the Library.
