HC Deb 09 December 1987 vol 124 cc198-9W
55. Mr. Allen Adams

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in the light of the announcement of' 500 redundancies at FKI (Halifax), formerly Babcocks, at its Renfrew plant, he has any plans to visit Renfrew and meet the local council to discuss industrial regeneration in the area; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lang

My right hon. and learned Friend has no plans at present to visit Renfrew to meet Renfrew district council.

I am confident that the proposed enterprise initiative for Renfrew, to which the district council and Strathclyde regional council will both be contributing, will help to create new and invigorated economic activity in the area, and improve the environment for those who live and work there.
