§ Mr. LangThe growing spirit of enterprise which now exists in Scotland is already producing tangible results. For example, some 45,000 more people are now in self-employment than in 1979. Again VAT records show that there was a net increase of nearly 10,000 Scottish businesses between 1980 and 1985. As the enterprise culture takes deeper root in Scotland, so prosperity will grow further.
