To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what progress has been made in the programme to expand the Territorial Army Volunteer Reserve.

Phase II of the Territorial Army expansion programme set out in "Defence Open Government Document 84/02" began formally in April 1986. The majority of the planned new units and sub-units have now formed and are recruiting.
