HC Deb 08 December 1987 vol 124 c155W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will publish explanatory details of all instances of public expenditure incurred by his Department as a result of settlement of a sales contract due to a change of policy since 1979; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Sainsbury

Only one case has fallen above the limit that has required individual notation in the appropriation Account: £450,000 in the account for 1982–83. This was in respect of a contract for the sale of surplus pistols to QED (Design and Development) Ltd. It would require disproportionate effort to identify any cases that may have occurred below the limit.
