HL Deb 07 December 1987 vol 491 c61WA
Baroness Fisher of Rednal

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware of the considerable delay experienced by clients of the Land Registry.

The Lord Chancellor (Lord Mackay of Clashfern)

The Government are aware of these delays. As my honourable and learned friend the Solicitor-General has recently explained in another place (30th November 1987,Official Report; col. 744), a significant increase in expenditure and manpower has been approved for 1988–89, which will enable HM Land Registry to meet its projected commitments for that year and contain, and eventually reduce, the backlog of outstanding casework.
