How many armoured Land Rovers are available to the police in England and Wales; and what is their maximum speed.

Information about such vehicles held by police forces in England and Wales outside the Metropolitan Police is not available centrally. The Metropolitan Police have taken delivery of 12 ballistically protected vehicles out of the 24 which my right honourable friend the Home Secretary approved in 1986. These vehicles are capable of speeds in excess of 70 mph.
