§ Sir Peter BlakerTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he proposes to respond to the appeal by the Secretary-General of the United Nations in the context of the United Nations financial crisis.
§ Mr. EggarThe United Kingdom has always paid its assessed contribution to the regular budget of the United Nations promptly and in full. We share the Secretary-General's concern that, by mid-November, as many as 93 member states had failed to meet their financial obligations. We have exceptionally agreed to advance $9 million against our assessed contribution for 1988.
