§ Mr. Fallon
To ask the Minister for the Civil Service how many non-departmental public bodies are currently in existence; and when the annual list of such bodies will be published.

§ Mr. Luce
On 1 April 1987 there were 1,643 non-departmental public bodies. That is 15 fewer than last year and 524 fewer than in 1979. These bodies are listed in "Public Bodies 1987" published today. A copy has been placed in the Library of the House.
