§ Mr. CartwrightTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to be able to provide a substantive response to the letter of 17 March from the hon. Member for Woolwich about the case of Mr. T. D. Phung.
§ Mr. RentonI regret that the pressure of work within the refugee section of the immigration and nationality department, and the need to make further inquiries of Mr. Phung have delayed consideration of this case. We are at present awaiting translation of documents submitted by Mr. Phung in Chinese and I hope to be able to send a substantive reply to the letter of 17 March once this is available.
