To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he will give figures for the volume and value of coal imported through Seaham harbour for each year from 1979.

For the purposes of Her Majesty's Customs and Excise's import statistics, Seaham harbour is included within the port of Sunderland. The following table shows the total volume, total value, and hence the average unit value, of coal imported through Sunderland for each year from 1979.
