To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, in order to achieve wider audience coverage, he will discuss with the BBC the possibility of a greater proportion of public service messages placed by the Central Office of Information being transmitted on the corporation's television channels; and if he will make a statement.

The Central Office of Information already has regular discussions with the BBC on the production and placement of public service messages (known as fillers) on health, safety and welfare subjects for use on BBCl and BBC2.

We value the air time which the BBC devotes to these public service messages and will continue to seek any increase in audience cover that the corporation can achieve.
