§ 67. Mrs. PeacockTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what provision is being made for the teaching of home economics after the national core curriculum comes into effect.
§ Mrs. RumboldHome economics is not one of the foundation subjects proposed in the national curriculum provisions of the Education Reform Bill currently before the House. However, we expect that some elements of home economics will be taught through the foundation subjects, particularly science, technology and art. Schools will be free additionally to devote to home economics some of the time which will not be required for the foundation subjects.
