Mr. JacksonWe have had representations to the effect that our proposals to remove tenure might weaken academic freedom. I refer the hon. Members to my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Dorset, North (Mr. Baker) on 20 November, which explains how the provisions in the Education Reform Bill will in fact strengthen the protection of academic freedom.
