§ Mr. Deakinsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Metropolitan Police Commissioner on the meeting held outside Waltham Forest town hall on the evening of 9 April, in particular as to whether any charges have been brought in relation to any of the speeches on the grounds that they allegedly transgressed the law on racial abuse, constituted incitement to racial harassment or incitement to violence.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggI understand from the Commissioner that this was a peaceful meeting attended by over 5,000 people and that no one present has been charged.
