§ Mr. PattieI believe that European technical and research collaboration can play an important role in improving the technological base and competitive position of United Kingdom industry.
My Department therefore supports specific collaborative activities where there is clear added value to United Kingdom industry in doing so. This is demonstrated by the importance we attach to, for example, the European Space Agency, ESPRIT and EUREKA.
